The Kampala Capital City Authority response is built on the following pillars that include :
1. Coordination and Leadership.
2. Surveillance and Laboratory.
3. Risk Communication, Community Mobilization & Engagement, and Psychosocial support.
4. Case Management including Emergency Medical Services.
5. Water, sanitation, Hygiene Plus Infection Prevention & Control.
6. Mitigation of Societal Disruption.
7. Logistics.
As a City, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has embraced a number of measures to respond to the crisis in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area of about 5 million people coordination with the Ministry of Health. The measures are implemented under the Presidential Guidelines to combat covid 19 which include ; Suspension of public and private transport including all taxis, buses, passenger trains, Tuk-Tuk and Boda Bodas ; Closure of International Ports of Entry, Closure of Churches, Schools, Universities, Bars, Casino’s and shops/malls selling non-essential items, Suspension of Public events, Suspension of Public gatherings The capital city’s efforts are coordinated by KCCA Directorate of Public Health and Environment.
