Sierra Leone’s devastating 11-year civil war destroyed much of its infrastructure, and left its economy in tatters. In 2004, two years after the end of the war, Sierra Leone asked the Investment Climate Advisory Services of the World Bank Group to help create a better business and investment climate that would lay a foundation for the country’s future economic growth. This new report features the perspectives of local entrepreneurs, key government reformers, and practitioners from the World Bank Group in tracing Sierra Leone's path to revive and grow the private sector following its long civil war. The report chronicles how the Bank Group, with the United Kingdom's Department for International Development and donors Ireland, the Netherlands, and Norway, helped the country build a strong regulatory environment for business and investment.Link: More Information
