Beyond The Monoculture: Strengthening Local Culture, Economy And Knowledge

It is sometimes helpful to get beyond prevalent paradigms and perspectives so as to regain the unhindered ability to dream afresh about different possible futures! This has almost a feeling like getting out of The Matrix and meeting Morpheus at last :-)!  “Today’s global economy is based primarily on abstract knowledge, divorced from our natural and cultural surroundings”, argues the author of this article. This global economy the author continues “has built a monoculture of ideas and consumer goods and is foisting them on people in every corner of the world.” This hegemonic monoculture,  the author further argues, is the root cause of the multifaceted crisis our world is facing at present.
