Cooperation with the South Africa LED Network
The MoU signed between LEDNA and the South African LED Network towards the end of last year has began to be implemented. The Cooperation between the two Networks focuses, among others, on knowledge exchange and cross-linking. This will permit to more consistently present South African LED knowledge and information to the pan-African LED community as well as bring experiences from the rest of Africa to the South African LED community. Check pages 2 & 4 of the 4th issue of the SA LED Network Newsletter to see how this is gradually translated into reality.
LEDNA will seek to establish similar types of cooperation agreement with other LED Networks or communities from other African countries.

by Gwen-Swinburn - 03/09/2009
Friends I have recently been asked about undergrad and masters programmes in LED based in Africa. I know we have several members who teach either whole degree courses in LED or teach LED or RED as part of broader courses (e.g.ecnomics, development planning, urban planning and so on. Can I ask through this blog that we as a team share what we know about courses, individual subject or entire degree. We have students and recently graduated students, lets find out where and what you studied, not just in Africa but beyond please.

Take a look here for UNBIASED resources to the main approaches to local ecoomic development. On the LEDNA platform when we set it up we tried to include the broad range of approaches that were known and available in the public domain.
LED Podcasts - an innovative way of gaining LED knowledge!
What is a Podcast and what can you do with it?
A Podcast is an audio programme that you can download from the Internet. You can listen to it at any time - at home, in your car, on the way to work, while you relax or at any other time. Podcasts are an alternative way of getting information - especially for people who are tired of reading endless academic papers and who prefer to listen to new information.
How to listen to a Podcast? The easiest options are to run it directly on your computer, to burn it on a CD or to save it to an MP3 player, for instance an iPod. Even many cell phones can be used as MP3 players nowadays.
What about Podcasts on LED?
The international LED consultancy "Mesopartner" has started a collection of LED Podcasts which can be downloaded for free (www.mesopartner.de/podcast/). All Podcasts are done in an interview-style with interesting experts from all over the world (so far in english and spanish).
By now there are about 50 Podcasts covering the different topics around LED: Concepts like competitiveness, market failure, one-stop-shops, enabling environment, clusters as well as case studies from all over the world, workshop formats, a wide selection of LED tools and innovations.
Try out this new way of gaining LED knowledge and get updated on the newest LED developments! If there is anything you would like to add or if you feel that you have interesting LED insights to share (also in french language!) please get in touch with the Podcast host via the website!
